GOLF RULES & ETIQUETTE

Players shall at all times observe the etiquette of golf as prescribed under the Rules of Golf, the Golf Bye-Laws, Rules, Regulations and directives, laid down by the Committee on all matter including but not limited to dress code, littering and pace of play guideline.

1. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PLAY
 
1.1 No Play is permitted before 7.00 am.
 
1.2 When any nine is reserved for Booked-Times, no play is permitted before the first Booked-Time.
 
1.3 On days when a Booked-Time sheet is in operation, members who have have not booked a Starting time are not permitted to play on the designed course, unless approved and directed by Play Control Centre.
 
1.4 A single player has no standing and shall give way to a match of any kind.
 
1.5 Unless otherwise directed by Play Control Centre, no match shall start from any tee other than first (1st) or tenth (10th) hole of any course.
 
1.6 On Public Holidays, course control will be at as for Sundays. Course Control applies throughout the day.
 
1.7 All Club competitions shall be organised by the Club Management and under the control of the Committee.
 
1.8 The player with lowest handicap in a match is responsible for his match in observing etiquette of golf, pace of play, the suspension and resumption of play following siren signals.
 
1.9 No mobile phone is to be used on the golf course during any golf competition.
 
1.10 No unauthorised person is allowed to accompany a golfer on the golf course.
 
1.11 A golfer must have his/her own bag of clubs.
 
1.12 Members should display their Golf Bag Tag.
 
1.13 No practice shots are permitted on any part of the courses, except where permitted or required by the Rules of Golf.

2. DRESS CODE
Players must observe the dress code of a golfer to reflect the standard and image respected of a gentlemen/lady golfer.

3. CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER PLAYERS
 
3.1 No player shall in a manner that is perilous to others or play a ball until players including caddies in front are out of range.
 
3.2 No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke.
 
3.3 The player who has the honour should be allowed to play before his opponent or fellow competitor tees his ball.

4. CARE OF THE COURSE
 
4.1
Holes in Bunkers
 
Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints made by him, and leave the rake in the bunker.
 
4.2
Damage to Greens - Flagsticks, Bags, Etc
 
Players should ensure that, when putting down bags, or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green, and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it, in handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green.
 
4.3
Damage Through Practice Swings
  
In taking practice swings, players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly the tees, by removing divots.
 
4.4
Repairs Divots, Ball Marks and Damage by Spikes
  
A player should ensure that any divot hole made by him/her, and any damage to the putting green made by a ball is carefully repaired. On completion of the hole by all players in the group, damage to the putting green caused by golf shoe spikes should be repaired.

5. PRIORITY ON THE COURSE
 
5.1
Course Control
 
5.1.1 All players shall at all times observe all directions of Play Control and Course Marshals.
5.1.2 No four-ball match shall play over any course reserved for two-ball matches. A two-ball match may play over a course reserved for four-ball matches but shall have no priority over a four-ball match.

6. SLOW PLAY
 
6.1
Definition of Slow Play
 
A flight is considered slow or not keeping pace when the flight
a) unreasonably fails to keep up with the flight in front
b) is holding back the flight behind, or
c) exceeds the allowable time for the hole
 
6.2
Action against Slow Play
 
When a Course Marshall or any other official appointed to monitor and control the pace of play, notices a flight is considered slow ( as defined above) the Course Marshall or Official shall
a) inform the players in the flight of the occurrence of the event and report the matter to the Sports Manager;
b) issue a warning letter to every member of the flight that is caught not keeping pace. (Therefore, it is the duty of every member to see that his fellow-players in the same flight do keep reasonably in pace with play);
c) request every member of the flight to abandon that hole and escort them to the next hole immediately.
 
6.3
A member who gets a third (3rd) letter of warning about slow play within a period of one (1)  year shall automatically have his playing rights suspended for three (3) months.
 
6.4
A member who gets his fifth (5th) letter of warning within a period of two (2)  years shall automatically have his playing rights suspended for six (6) months.
 
6.5
A member who gets his sixth (6th) letter of warning shall be referred to The Committee for appropriate action.

7. PACE OF PLAY
 
7.1 In the interest of all, players should play without delay.
 
7.2 Players searching for a ball should signal the players behind them to pass as soon as as it becomes apparent that the ball will not easily be found. They should not continue play until the players following them have passed and are out of range.
 
7.3 When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green.
 
7.4 If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front, it should invite the match following to pass.
