The
3rd Annual Sports Carnival held on 5th May 2003 attracted an increased number of
participants of junior golfers, tennis players and swimmers. Some of the
corporate friends of the Club and Members were most generous in sponsoring beer,
beverages, food, cash and prizes to ensure the success of the Sports Carnival.
The Committee is keen to promote
more sporting activities for children of the Club and accordingly has directed the Sports Office to organise more exciting events
which will expose the children to the culture, values and fine traditions of our Club thereby ensuring continuity. These children will grow to become Junior
Members and then as Members of our Club. It is encouraging that the junior programmes are now receiving very positive response from the children and
parents. For the first time in the history of our Club, several junior golf competitions will be organised
The election of
Committee Members will be carried out during the Annual General Meeting to be
held not later than 31st July this year. As part of the changes that have been
adopted by The Committee in delegating to Management the day to day running of
the Club, only 3 Convenors will be appointed after the Annual General Meeting
for the portfolios of :-
(1) golf and greens sub-committee;
(2) membership sub-committee; and
(3) finance sub-committee
The remaining Committee Members will
be without portfolios, and will continue in the formulation of policies and guidelines in the running of the Club. The Committee is presently reviewing the
Club's membership policy and addressing the sensitive issue of increasing entrance fees, perhaps, one of the ways which will be to have 2 sets of entrance fees, one for Members' children (which will be
substantially lower) and the other for new Members from the public. All these issues will shortly be presented to Members for debate and approval.
