Established in 1893, The Royal Selangor Golf
Club is the founding ground of golf and the premier
golf club of Malaysia.
The
RSGC, as it is popularly known, has
a long and illustrious history
that is associated with the birth
and dawn of golf in the region.
It
has played a most prominent role in the evolution of
the game in the country and in making it a major
recreational and sporting event here. Having played
host to many international golf tournaments, a
hallmark of
quality and par excellence is synonymous with this
august Club.
Today, the RSGC is home to over 6000 Members
comprising Royalty, Cabinet, Ministers, foreign
diplomats,
corporate leaders, captains of industry,
professionals and ordinary persons from different
walks of life.
The golf courses offer two 18
holes standard championship layouts and a short 9 holes option. Home to the inaugural
Malaysian Open, the historic Old Course, at 6,742 yards
and playing to par-72, provides a memorable journey from the
first tee to the 18th green. The New Course at
6,605 yards, par-72 is another fine 18-holes with undulating
greens and generous fairway.
Superbly a sanctuary amid the city centre, the beautifully
landscaped 45 holes parkland
course, with a panoramic view of of the city's
skyline,
is
always a joy for a game. An abundance of
matured trees, some of which are a hundred years or
more, is a celebration of the
Club's strong tradition and testament to its
enduring existence.
In
an idyllic lush greenery and picturesque vista in
the heart of the city centre, the golfing experience at the RSGC is indeed
unbeatable.
