September
has always been a busy month for inter club golfing activities. We played away
in Singapore Island Country Club and at home, against KGNS including a friendly
match with a group from Huntingdale Golf Club.
In our inter club
game with Singapore Island Country Club, we presented them with a gift of a
young mahogany sapling from our own mahogany trees with the message that the
deep rooted and lush mahogany tree noted for its longevity and hardwood
symbolises the friendship between our clubs. The sapling was
planted in a beautiful and choice location between the 9th green and 10th tee of
the New Course - Island location.
The issue of Members' children who missed the boat is being
addressed and as expected, overwhelming response to the limited places. A
balloting exercise will be carried out to pick the successful applicants.
Reconstruction and
re-turfing of the 6th hole green Old Course has started with a budget of
RM50,000, inclusive of the course designer's fees. This green is expected to be
completed and playable in late January to mid February 2004 and will be of
similar quality to that of the practice green next to our Club's terrace.
Construction works on
the golf academy and toilet facilities within the tennis pavilion have also
begun and are scheduled to be completed in December
2003 and January 2004 respectively.
Our Club successfully
organised its first Halloween party with 70 children turning up for the party.
The Social and Entertainment Sub-Committee together with management did an
excellent job decorating and creating the right ambience. Some members of the
staff volunteered and dressed up as ghosts to create the atmosphere for the
party.
The fun and enjoyment
had by the children and parents will certainly inspire the Social and
Entertainment Sub-Committee to organise more functions that will bring Members
and their children together to enjoy the facilities of our Club.
