The Circular
FROM  THE  CIRCULAR  OF  SEPTEMBER  2003  ISSUE

Our Club was indeed honoured by His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong for graciously consenting to sponsor a trophy and participating in the Agong's Trophy held on 10th August 2003 to commemorate the "Royal" status which was bestowed on our Club by His Majesty's late father in 1963. This competition will now be held annually.

In accordance with the wishes of Members expressed during the last Annual General Meeting, The Committee has established a sub-committee to study and review the provisions of the Club's Articles of Association. This sub-committee comprises Cecil Abraham as Chairman, Michael Low, Alex Lim and Dr. Francis Ho as sub-committee members.

The new practice putting green by the terrace is now open for play and The Committee has received very good reviews and response from Members. This green was constructed in-house by our Course Superintendent in accordance with USGA specifications and the cost for the purchase of materials was approximately RM28,000.00. The specie of grass is tifdwarf and for our future needs, we are propagating this specie in our nurseries which have a total area of approximately 20,000 square feet.

The Course Superintendent has proposed and The Committee has agreed to re-design and re-turf the 6th Hole Green of the Old Course which has been badly contaminated by off-types and other local grass. The proposed new Green will be constructed and turfed in a similar method and in accordance with the specifications of the terrace putting green at a cost of approximately RM50,000.00 inclusive of design fees.

The Committee has received a petition by Members voicing objections to the proposed construction of toilet facilities, the re-siting of a new starter's hut of the 1st Hole Old Course, both to a location adjacent to and in line with the tennis pavilion; and, the new Golf Academy at the practice range. Although these proposed works were all budgeted and approved by Members in January this year, The Committee however has decided to withhold construction (though delay may result in additional cost) until after hearing Members' views in the forthcoming dialogue session between The Committee and Members to be held at 7 p.m. on 22nd September 2003.

I hope young Members/young parents will make an extra effort to attend the dialogue session to reaffirm and develop further if need be the invaluable ideas and suggestions that had previously been raised in the dialogues held earlier before finalisation and implementation.
